There are a myriad of things you can do with your floors if you’re feeling like your home could use some touching up. After all, floors are an awesome way to draw more attention to one or more rooms of your home. Even if you decide to play it safe and lay out all new flooring of the same kind in each room you’re changing, you’ll definitely notice quite the positive change in atmosphere. However, if you’re feeling particularly adventurous, we’ve got just the thing for you! Here you’ll find a smorgasbord of ideas you can use (and execute yourself) that are both refreshing and breath-taking.
Pebble flooring is a style you really can’t go wrong with. Whether you’re planning to install it throughout your bathroom, or your foyer, you’ll surely have a showpiece and a brand new floor all in one. Laying down pebble flooring is much easier than you might think, too. There are only a couple of steps and it can definitely be done all in one day! After the floor is installed, you have to wait 24 hours before applying the sealer but at least you can get through all of the labor intensive steps in one day. This is still good news for the people who plan to hire someone else to install the floor since nobody wants to have installation in their homes for days and days on end. Everyone wins with this one! Don’t forget you can also use pebble flooring as a unique way to divide different flooring patterns from one room to the next, as pictured below.
Backsplash Tile Instead of Grout
If you love the look of tile, but hate the time consuming, messy process that comes with it we have just the thing for you. Tile is an excellent option for bathroom or kitchen floors. Tile can literally go anywhere you want it to go, but it tends to work the best in rooms where the likelihood of water being splashed around on the floors is at an all time high. So if you still want tile in your bathroom, but dont want to deal with grout, perhaps backlashing the tile would be a better option for you. Backlashing tile entails laying down strips of tile instead of mixing and laying grout! How amazing is that?
Etched and Acid Stain Concrete
Another interesting and uncommon turn on a classic is to change up the concrete on your basement floor (or whatever area of your home features concrete flooring). concrete flooring is nice because its sturdy and low maintenance but if youre looking for something with a little bit more pizaz, we have just the thing for you to try. Etched and acid stained concrete! Yes, really! This technique can be applied to old and new concrete so never fear if you think your concrete floors may have been around since the beginning of time. Keep in mind when tou begin doing your research that there are, in fact, two different types of stains for this particular project. Water based stains and Acid based stains will give you two totally different outcomes, so make sure that you choose the right one for you.
